What is CAS and why is it required for UK visa?

CAS stands for Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies. It is a crucial document required for obtaining a UK student visa (Student Route visa) and is issued by the UK university or college where you have been offered admission.

What is a CAS?

- CAS is an electronic document (not a physical letter) with a unique reference number.
- It is generated by your university/college once you have accepted an unconditional offer and met all their requirements (like paying a deposit, submitting documents, etc.).
- The CAS confirms your admission and contains details about your course, tuition fees, start and end dates, and your personal information.

Why is CAS Required for a UK Student Visa?

- UKVI (UK Visas & Immigration) requires proof that you have been accepted by a licensed UK educational institution before granting a student visa.
- The CAS reference number must be entered in your visa application form.
- It helps the UK Home Office verify your course details, institution sponsorship, and eligibility for the visa.

Important Points about CAS:

- You can only use one CAS per visa application.
- CAS is generally valid for 6 months from the date it is issued.
- You cannot apply for your UK student visa more than 6 months before your course start date.
- Without a CAS, you cannot submit a student visa application.
