How to Apply for ATAS Clearance

1. Check if Your Course Needs ATAS

- Your university will inform you if your course requires ATAS. It will also provide you with a CAH3 code (Common Aggregation Hierarchy code) for your course, which is needed for the application.

2. Gather Required Information

- Offer letter from the UK university
- CAH3 code for your course (from your university)
- Passport details
- Previous academic qualifications
- Research statement (for research-based programs)
- Supervisor’s contact details (for research programs)

3. Submit Your Application Online

- Visit the official ATAS website: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/academic-technology-approval-scheme
- Complete the application form with accurate details.
- There is no application fee for ATAS.

4. Processing Time

- It usually takes at least 20 working days (1 month) to process an ATAS certificate.
- During peak times (April–September), allow extra time.

5. Receive Your ATAS Certificate

- The certificate will be emailed to you.
- You must include your ATAS certificate with your UK student visa application.
- The certificate is valid for 6 months.
