1. Apply Before Your Permit Expires

You should apply to extend your study permit at least 30 days before it expires. If you apply before the expiry date, you can stay in Canada under “implied status” until a decision is made.

2. Gather Required Documents

Typically, you will need:
- A valid passport
- Current study permit
- Proof of enrolment (an official letter from your Designated Learning Institution confirming your continued studies)
- Recent transcripts
- Proof of financial support (bank statements, scholarship letters, GIC, etc.)

3. Apply Online

- Log in or create an account on the IRCC website.
