1. F-1 Visa Requirements

- Full-time Enrollment: F-1 students are required to maintain full-time enrollment during the academic year.
- Leave of Absence: Taking a leave (for medical, personal, or academic reasons) generally means you will not be enrolled full-time.

2. Authorized vs. Unauthorized Leave

Authorized Leave of Absence (with SEVIS Termination for Authorized Early Withdrawal)

- You must formally request a leave through your university’s International Student Office (DSO).
- If approved, your SEVIS record will be terminated for “Authorized Early Withdrawal.”
- You must leave the USA within 15 days after your SEVIS record is terminated.
