When can students request a review of an academic decision?

The ability to request a review of an academic decision depends on the specific university’s policies and the country where you plan to study. Generally, students can request a review of an academic decision (such as exam results, grades, progression, or award of degree) if they believe there has been an error, unfairness, or procedural irregularity.

• If you believe there was a mistake in the marking or calculation of your grades.
• If you think that university policies and procedures were not properly followed.
• If there is evidence of bias, discrimination, or extenuating circumstances that were not considered.
• If you have new evidence that was not previously available and could affect the decision.

• After results are officially released and you have received notification of your grade or academic outcome.
• Within a specified time frame (often 14–28 days, depending on the university) after the academic decision is communicated.
• Following the specific appeal or review process outlined by your university. Most universities provide clear guidelines on how and when to submit a request for review or appeal.

If you are planning to study abroad and want to understand more about academic policies, appeals, or review processes at your chosen university, Pollster Education can guide you through these procedures and help you communicate with universities effectively.
