As of now, the Duolingo English Test is generally not accepted for Ireland student visa applications by the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS). For most Irish universities and for visa purposes, the commonly accepted English proficiency tests are:

- IELTS Academic
- TOEFL iBT
- PTE Academic
- Cambridge English qualifications

What does this mean for you?
- While a few Irish universities may accept Duolingo English Test scores for admissions (especially for 2024/25 intakes due to COVID-19 flexibility), the Irish visa authorities do not accept Duolingo as proof of English proficiency for study visa approval.
- For your student visa application, you must provide an IELTS, TOEFL, PTE, or Cambridge English test result as proof of your English language ability.

If you are planning to study in Ireland, we strongly advise you to take either the IELTS Academic or PTE Academic test to ensure your university admission and visa process go smoothly.
