Arriving at the airport in a new country for your studies is an exciting milestone! Here are key things students should know about airport arrival procedures, especially when traveling to study abroad in countries like the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Germany, or New Zealand:

1. Documents to Keep Handy

Always have the following documents ready in your hand luggage:
- Passport with valid student visa
- University offer letter/admission letter
- Proof of accommodation
- Financial evidence (bank statements, scholarship letters, etc.)
- Return flight ticket (if required)
- COVID-19 vaccination and/or test certificates (if applicable)
- Airport arrival instructions sent by your university
- Contact details of your university’s international student support office

2. Immigration/Border Control

- Proceed to the immigration desk for international arrivals.
- Be ready to answer basic questions about your studies:
- Which university are you attending?
- What course are you enrolled in?
- Where will you be staying?
- Present all required documents as requested by the immigration officer.
- They may take your photograph and scan your fingerprints.

3. Customs Declaration

- Fill out any customs declaration forms provided during your flight.
- Declare any goods or currency above the allowed limit.

4. Baggage Claim

- Keep your valuables and important documents with you at all times.
- Be polite and calm with airport staff and officials.

8. Country-Specific Notes

- UK: You may be issued a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) collection letter. Collect your BRP within 10 days of arrival.
- Australia: Have your Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) details ready.
- Germany: You will need proof of your blocked account and health insurance.
- Canada: Carry your Letter of Introduction (study permit approval letter) and show it to the border officer.
