What should I do if I lose my Emirates ID in Dubai as a student?

If you’re an international student in Dubai and you lose your Emirates ID, here’s what you should do:

1. Report the Loss Immediately:
- Visit the nearest police station or the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Ports Security (ICP) Customer Happiness Centre to report the loss. You may be required to fill out a loss report and pay a small fee.

2. Apply for a Replacement Emirates ID:
- Visit an ICP Customer Happiness Centre or apply online via the ICP website or the ICP UAE Smart App.
- You’ll need your passport, a valid UAE residence visa, and the loss report/police report (if required).
- Pay the replacement fee (generally AED 300 for replacement + AED 70 for service fees).

3. Submit Biometrics (if required):
- If you’re asked, visit the registration centre for fingerprinting or a photo.

4. Track Your Application:
- You’ll receive an SMS with updates. The replacement typically takes 1-2 weeks.
- Collect your new Emirates ID from the designated Emirates Post office or as instructed.

5. Update Relevant Authorities:
- Inform your university’s international student office or administration about the lost and replacement Emirates ID.

Tips:
- Keep a copy or photo of your Emirates ID for reference.
- Losing your Emirates ID does not affect your student visa status, but it is a legal proof of identity so replacement is necessary.
