What is the stay-back period in Spain after graduation?

In Spain, after completing your graduation (bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD), international students are eligible to apply for a post-study work visa known as the “Estancia por Estudios” (Stay for Studies) or the job search visa.

Stay-Back Period in Spain:

- 12 Months (1 Year): After graduation, you can apply for a 12-month residence permit to look for a job or start your own business in Spain. This can be further extended for an additional 12 months (total up to 2 years) if you meet the requirements.
- Purpose: The stay-back period is specifically meant for job-seeking or business establishment.

Requirements:
- You must apply before your student visa/residence permit expires.
- Proof of completion of studies (official degree certificate).
- Sufficient financial means to support yourself during the job search period.
- Health insurance coverage in Spain.

Next Steps:
- If you find a suitable job or launch a business during this period, you can then convert your permit to a regular work or entrepreneur visa.
