What documents parents should verify before payment in Australia?

That’s a very important and responsible question! Before making any payment—whether it’s for tuition fees, accommodation, or visa application—for studying in Australia, parents should verify the following documents and details to ensure security and authenticity:

1. Offer Letter from the University/College

- Genuine Offer: Ensure the offer/admission letter is from a genuine, CRICOS-registered Australian institution.
- Details: Check student’s name, course details, duration, and fee structure.
- Contact: Cross-verify university/college contact details via the official website.

2. Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)

- This is a mandatory document for the Australian student visa (subclass 500).
- The CoE is issued only after initial payment of tuition fees and confirms the student’s enrolment.
- Verify the CoE number and details on the institution’s official portal if possible.

3. Fee Payment Request/Invoice

- Official Invoice: The fee payment request should come directly from the university/college, not from agents or third parties.
- Bank Details: Confirm that the bank account details for payment match those listed on the institution’s official website.
- Currency: Payments should be in AUD, as mentioned in the invoice.

4. Australian Government and University Registration

- Confirm the institution is listed on the CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students).
- You can search the CRICOS code from the offer letter to verify authenticity.

5. Scholarship Letters (if applicable)

- If your child has been awarded a scholarship, verify the scholarship letter and confirm details directly with the university.

6. Visa Application Documents

- Ensure all supporting documents are accurate: passport, academic records, English test results (IELTS, TOEFL, etc.), financial evidence (bank statements, loan letters), and CoE.
- Check the updated Australia student visa fee structure (from 1st July 2025: AUD 2000 for main applicant, AUD 1225 for spouse/dependent partner, AUD 400 per dependent child).

7. Communication Trail

- All communications should ideally be through official university/college emails (ending with .edu.au).
- Avoid making any payment based on unofficial, personal, or agent email addresses without verification.

8. Receipt of Payment

- After payment, you must receive an official receipt from the university/college for your records.
