How much bank balance is required to study in the UK?

To study in the UK, you must demonstrate that you have enough funds to cover:

1. Your first year’s tuition fees (as specified in your university’s offer letter or CAS—Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies).
2. Living expenses as per UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) requirements, which are:
- London: £1,334 per month for up to 9 months (total: £12,006)
- Outside London: £1,023 per month for up to 9 months (total: £9,207)

However, as per the latest UKVI update:
- London: £1,483 per month for up to 9 months (total: £13,347)
- Outside London: £1,136 per month for up to 9 months (total: £10,224)

Calculation Example:
- If your course is in London and your tuition fee for the first year is £15,000, then you need to show:
- £15,000 (tuition) + £13,347 (living expenses) = £28,347
- If your course is outside London and your tuition fee is £12,000, then you need:
- £12,000 (tuition) + £10,224 (living expenses) = £22,224

Additional Points:
- If you have paid any amount towards tuition or accommodation, you can deduct that from the total funds required (as per your CAS and receipts).
- The funds must be held in your (or your parent’s) bank account for at least 28 consecutive days before you apply for your visa.
- The bank statement or letter used as proof should not be more than 31 days old on the date of your visa application.
