What is a CAS letter and how do I get one to study in the UK?

A CAS Letter (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) is an essential document required for obtaining a UK Student Visa (previously known as Tier 4). It’s an electronic document issued by your chosen UK university or college after you have accepted an unconditional offer of admission and met all their requirements.

What is a CAS Letter?

- CAS Letter is not a traditional “letter” but a unique reference number issued by your university.
- It confirms that you have been offered a place on a course and that you are eligible to apply for a UK Student Visa.
- The CAS contains information about you, your chosen course, tuition fees, and your sponsor (university/college).

Why is it Important?

You must enter your CAS number when you apply for your UK Student Visa. Without a CAS, your visa application will not be processed.

Important Points

- CAS is valid for 6 months from the date it’s issued, but you can apply for your visa no earlier than 6 months before your course starts.
- Check all details carefully (name, course, tuition fees paid, etc.) before using the CAS for your visa application.
- One CAS per application: You can only use a CAS once; if your visa is refused, you’ll need a new CAS for a re-application.
