What happens after Ireland visa approval?

Congratulations on your Ireland student visa approval! Here’s what happens next and what you should prepare to do:

1. Receive Your Visa and Check Details

- Ensure all details on the visa sticker (name, passport number, validity dates, etc.) are correct. If you notice any errors, contact the visa office immediately.

2. Book Your Travel

- You can now book your flight to Ireland. It’s advisable to arrive a few days before your course begins to settle in and attend orientation.

3. Prepare Documents for Arrival

You’ll need to present the following at Irish immigration on arrival:
- Your valid passport (with visa sticker)
- Visa approval letter (if provided)
- University admission/offer letter
- Proof of tuition fee payment
- Proof of accommodation in Ireland
- Proof of sufficient funds (bank statements, scholarship letters, etc.)
- Medical/travel insurance details
- Any additional documents listed by the Irish embassy or your university

4. Arrive in Ireland – Immigration Clearance

- At the airport, an immigration officer will check your documents and may ask you about your course, accommodation, and finances.
- If everything is in order, you’ll receive a landing stamp in your passport with your permitted stay.

5. Register with Irish Immigration (GNIB/IRP)

- Within 90 days of arrival, you must register with the local Immigration Registration Office (generally the Garda National Immigration Bureau – GNIB, or the local Immigration Registration Office).
- You’ll need to provide:
- Passport and visa
- University enrolment letter
- Proof of address in Ireland
- Proof of finances
- Medical insurance
- Registration fee (approx. €300)
- You’ll be issued an Irish Residence Permit (IRP) card, which acts as your proof of legal stay.

6. Set Up Essentials

- Open a local bank account (your university may assist with this)
- Register with a GP (doctor) if needed
- Get a student travel card, SIM card, etc.

7. Start Your Studies

- Attend university orientation and induction sessions
- Familiarize yourself with campus and support services
