How long is Australia student visa valid?

The validity of an Australia student visa (subclass 500) generally depends on the duration of your course:

- For courses up to 10 months: The student visa is typically granted for the duration of your course plus one additional month.
- For courses longer than 10 months (ending between January and October): The visa is usually valid for the duration of your course plus two additional months.
- For courses ending in November or December: The visa is generally granted until March 15 of the following year.

Example:
If your course is 2 years long and ends in December, your visa will likely be valid until March 15 of the following year.

Additional Points:
- Your visa will allow you to stay in Australia for the full duration of your studies and may include a short period before and after your course for arrival and departure.
- If you are taking prerequisite courses (like English language courses before your main degree), the visa will cover both periods.
- After completing your studies, you may be eligible for a Post Study Work Visa (Temporary Graduate Visa – subclass 485), which allows you to stay and work in Australia for up to 2-4 years depending on your qualification.
