How much bank balance required for France student visa?

For a France student visa (long-stay student visa or "VLS-TS étudiant"), you are required to demonstrate that you have sufficient financial resources to support yourself during your stay in France.

Bank Balance Requirement for France Student Visa

As per the latest guidelines:
- You must show proof of funds equivalent to at least €615 per month for the duration of your studies in France.

How much in total?

- For a one-year (12 months) stay:
€615 x 12 = €7,380

Accepted Proof of Funds:

- Recent bank statements in your name (preferably last 3-6 months)
- Sponsorship letter from a parent/guardian with their bank statements
- Proof of scholarship, if applicable
- Education loan sanction letter

Additional Notes:

- Funds must be readily available and not locked in fixed deposits (unless permitted by the French consulate).
- If you are staying with a host or have accommodation paid, you may show less, but you must provide sufficient documentary evidence.

Tip from Pollster Education:

- We recommend maintaining at least the minimum requirement plus some buffer (e.g., €8,000 or more) to strengthen your visa application.
- Ensure all documents are clear, genuine, and translated to French/English if required.
