What is Campus France and why is it required?

Campus France is the official French government agency that promotes higher education, international student services, and academic mobility to France. It operates under the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation.

Why is Campus France Required?

If you are an Indian student (or a student from many other countries) planning to study in France, you must go through the Campus France process as part of your application and visa procedure. Here’s why it is required:

1. Mandatory for Student Visa Application

- All Indian students applying for a French long-stay student visa (VLS-TS) must be pre-registered and interviewed by Campus France.
- The Campus France process is an official requirement of the French Embassy and consulate for visa approval.

2. Academic Evaluation & Assistance

- Campus France reviews your academic credentials and application documents.
- The agency guides you through the application process for French universities and “Grandes Écoles”.
- They ensure your application meets French higher education standards.

3. Pre-Consular Interview

- Campus France conducts an interview to verify your documents, motivation, and academic plans before you can submit your student visa application to the French consulate.

4. Centralized Application

- For many French institutions (especially through the “Études en France” procedure), Campus France acts as a centralized platform for applying to multiple universities and programs.

5. Information and Support

- They provide guidance on choosing courses, universities, scholarships, and understanding the French education system.

6. Smooth Transition

- Campus France helps with pre-departure formalities and provides information about accommodation, lifestyle, and integration in France.
