Program Overview

The MSc Climate Futures program aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond creatively and effectively to the complex challenges posed by climate change. By engaging with multiple perspectives from world-leading climate experts across the university, students develop a holistic understanding of the climate crisis.

Curriculum: The curriculum is transdisciplinary, encompassing modules that cover the natural science describing climatic change, societal challenges connected to climate change, the history of climatology, and the social and political dimensions of climate as a problem. Students have the flexibility to tailor their degree to their career aspirations and interests through a selection of diverse optional modules. 

Research Focus: Students are taught by academics and researchers who are directly engaged in groundbreaking research surrounding the climate crisis. This engagement ensures that students are at the forefront of conceptual debates and innovations as they happen, providing them with in-depth knowledge and practical experience to contribute towards meaningful climate action. ​

Postgraduate Entry Requirements:

  • Academic Qualifications: International students applying for postgraduate programs at the University of Leeds are generally required to have a minimum academic achievement of 55% or above in their previous studies. This requirement may vary depending on the course and country of origin.
  • English Language Proficiency: Similar to undergraduate programs, international students applying for postgraduate programs must demonstrate their English language proficiency. The required English language test scores are as follows:
    • IELTS: A minimum overall score of 6.5 with no individual component score below 6.0.
    • TOEFL: A minimum overall score of 88, with no individual component score below 19.
    • PTE: A minimum overall score of 64, depending on the course, with no individual component score below 60.

  • other supporting documents as required by the university.
