This master's program is tailored for individuals aiming to deepen their understanding of modern and contemporary literary texts, theories, and cultural contexts. It emphasizes critical engagement with pressing issues such as contemporary racism, climate change, global feminisms, and the crisis of post-modernity in contemporary writing.

Curriculum: The curriculum encompasses a range of specialized modules focusing on literature and culture from the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. Students are required to take at least 60 credits from these specialized modules, including compulsory courses like 'The Modern' and 'The Contemporary.' The remaining elective credits can be selected from other pathways within the Department of English or across the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, allowing for a tailored educational experience.

Research Focus: Students engage with critical and theoretical debates pertinent to modern and contemporary literature, developing advanced research skills. Postgraduate Entry Requirements:

  • Applicants should have successfully completed a bachelor's degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution with a minimum overall score of 60% or equivalent.
