Students learn to communicate visually through digital and print media, mastering typography, branding, motion graphics, interactive design, and user interface/experience design. The program emphasizes the application of design thinking to solve real-world problems, preparing graduates for roles in agencies, in-house creative teams, or as independent designers.
Curriculum: The curriculum is structured to balance creative exploration with professional practice. Key modules typically include Advanced Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Digital and Interactive Media, Branding and Identity Design, Typography and Editorial Design, Motion Graphics and Animation, Design for User Experience (UX/UI), and Strategic Design Projects. Students also complete a capstone honours project or dissertation that allows them to develop a comprehensive design solution or research study addressing a contemporary design challenge. Workshops, collaborative projects, and portfolio development ensure students graduate with practical experience and a professional-ready body of work.
Research Focus: Research in the Graphic Design program emphasizes both creative inquiry and applied problem-solving. Students are encouraged to investigate design trends, cultural influences, technological innovations, and audience engagement strategies. Through honours projects or dissertations, students conduct in-depth research that informs their design solutions, developing critical thinking, analytical skills, and innovative approaches to communication and visual storytelling. This research orientation ensures graduates are capable of contributing to the evolving field of graphic design with originality and insight.
Industry Engagement: Raffles College maintains strong industry engagement, providing students with opportunities to work on real-world projects, internships, and collaborations with design studios, advertising agencies, and corporate creative teams. Guest lectures, workshops with industry professionals, and live briefs expose students to contemporary practices, professional standards, and emerging trends. These experiences help students build professional networks, enhance practical skills, and transition seamlessly into creative roles upon graduation.
Global Perspective: The program integrates a global perspective through its alignment with Coventry University’s curriculum and Singapore’s status as an international design hub. Students learn to navigate cross-cultural design challenges, understand global design trends, and create visual communications that resonate with diverse audiences.
