Program Overview

This one-year master's program focuses on understanding and managing locational data essential for Geographic Information Systems (GIS), along with visualization and map production within a GIS environment. Curriculum: The curriculum is structured over two semesters, totaling 120 credits, followed by a dissertation. In Semester 1, courses include Geospatial Fundamentals (20 credits), Principles of GIS (10 credits), Land Surveying I (10 credits), Topographic Modelling and Landscape Monitoring (10 credits), and Academic and Professional Skills for GES PGT (10 credits). Semester 2 comprises courses such as Cartography and Geovisualisation (20 credits), Land Surveying II (10 credits), Remote Sensing (10 credits), and Topics in Geomatics (10 credits). The program culminates with a 60-credit dissertation, allowing students to conduct in-depth research on a topic of their choice.

Research Focus: The program encourages students to engage in innovative research projects that address contemporary challenges in geoinformation technology and cartography. The program also includes attendance at a 3-day GIS research conference or a short residential field course, with costs included within the program fee.
