Program Overview

This three-year full-time course, based at the Francis Close Hall campus in Cheltenham, is designed to develop a comprehensive understanding of human geography. Students have the flexibility to select physical geography themes from the companion BSc Geography course or switch to the BSc up to the end of Year 2. The program also offers an accelerated two-year format and a four-year option with a placement year, providing opportunities to gain practical experience in the UK, USA, China, and Europe.

Curriculum: The curriculum covers a broad range of topics, including population, migration, geopolitics, sustainability, health, ageing, development, conflict, global crime, and inequalities. Students engage in field training in the UK during Year 1, progress to overseas field research in Year 2, and undertake field placements in Year 3, with experiences in Europe, Africa, and the Americas. The program emphasizes small class sizes, practical and field learning, and is assessed entirely through coursework, ensuring a representative measure of graduate attributes sought by employers and for postgraduate study.
