Program Overview

​The MA Creative Writing at the University of Derby offers a dynamic and comprehensive postgraduate program designed to cultivate advanced writing skills across various genres. Under the guidance of experienced faculty members, all of whom are published creative writers, students produce a substantial portfolio in the form of a collection of poetry or an extended piece of prose fiction. The course also emphasizes the development of key transferrable skills beneficial in various academic or employment contexts. ​

In 2022/2023, students had the opportunity to work on the prestigious Writer’s Conference with the organization Writing East Midlands. ​

This global outlook prepares graduates to work in the international literary and publishing industries.
