Program Overview

The University of Connecticut's (UConn) School of Business offers a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Management through its Boucher Management & Entrepreneurship (M&E) Department. Established in 1941, the School of Business has evolved into a comprehensive institution, providing academic programs at various levels across multiple Connecticut locations, including Storrs, Hartford, Stamford, and Waterbury. The Management major focuses on developing essential skills such as leadership, teamwork, entrepreneurial thinking, and strategic vision, preparing students to address complex business challenges.

Curriculum: The Management curriculum comprises core courses like Managerial and Interpersonal Behavior (MENT 3101) and Strategic Management (MENT 4900). Students can tailor their studies by selecting electives in areas such as international business, entrepreneurship, management consulting, negotiations, and human capital management. Additionally, students may pursue an Entrepreneurship concentration or focus on areas like Management Consulting, Human Capital Management, or International Business.

Research Focus: UConn's School of Business emphasizes innovative research and teaching excellence. The Boucher M&E Department is recognized among the top 10 most productive research departments, with faculty members contributing cutting-edge knowledge to both academia and industry.  Interdisciplinary centers within the school, such as the Connecticut Center for Economic Analysis and the Center for Real Estate and Urban Economic Studies, further support research initiatives and provide valuable resources for students and faculty.

Industry Engagement: UConn's School of Business integrates experiential learning accelerators that bridge the gap between theory and practice. These include initiatives like Sustainable Community Outreach and Public Engagement, and the Student Managed Fund, which offer students hands-on experience in real-world business scenarios.  Additionally, the Boucher M&E Department provides opportunities such as Hillside Ventures—a student-led venture investment fund—and participation in business competitions like the annual Innovation Quest startup challenge, fostering practical industry engagement.

Global Perspective: UConn's Center for International Business Education & Research (CIBER) aims to enhance the competitiveness of U.S. businesses in the global marketplace. As one of 17 CIBERs nationwide, it offers programs focusing on international business and manufacturing for students at various academic levels.  Moreover, the Education Abroad Program provides Management majors with opportunities to study at prestigious institutions worldwide, including the University of Warwick in England, Fudan University in China, and Yonsei University in South Korea, enriching their global business acumen.

Academic Qualifications: Applicants for undergraduate programs typically require a minimum academic achievement of 70% or above in their previous academic qualifications.

English Language Proficiency:

  • IELTS: Overall band score of  6.5 or 7.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component.
  • TOEFL: Overall score of 79 or higher.
  • DET (Duolingo English Test): Minimum score of 100.
