Academic Qualifications: Applicants for undergraduate programs typically require a minimum academic achievement of 75% or above in their previous academic qualifications.

English Language Proficiency:

• IELTS: Overall band score of 6.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component.
• TOEFL: Overall score of 70 or higher.
• PTE: Overall score of 48 or higher.
• DET (Duolingo English Test): Overall score of 105.

Departmental Scholarships: Various academic departments at UW-Stout offer departmental scholarships for international students. These scholarships are often tied to specific majors or fields of study, rewarding students who have demonstrated excellence and dedication within their chosen academic disciplines.

Cultural Diversity Scholarship: The Cultural Diversity Scholarship is dedicated to supporting international students who have actively contributed to promoting diversity and inclusion on campus. Recipients of this scholarship have made a positive impact on the university community through their cultural awareness initiatives.

Athletic Scholarships: International student-athletes who excel in sports may be eligible for Athletic Scholarships. These scholarships recognize both athletic prowess and academic achievement, providing support for student-athletes to balance their sports commitments with academic success.

Community Service Scholarships: UW-Stout values community engagement, and the university offers scholarships for international students who have demonstrated a community service and volunteerism. These scholarships acknowledge contributions to the broader community beyond the campus.

Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Special Education program from the University of Wisconsin-Stout are prepared for a variety of rewarding careers in the field of education. This degree equips students with the skills and knowledge necessary to support and advocate for individuals with disabilities and diverse learning needs. 

Special Education Teacher: Special Education Teachers work directly with students who have disabilities or special learning needs. They develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs), adapt instructional materials, and create a supportive learning environment to help students achieve their academic and personal goals. Special Education Teachers may work in elementary, middle, or high schools, as well as in specialized educational settings.

Resource Teacher: Resource Teachers provide targeted support to students with disabilities within general education classrooms. They offer specialized instruction, assist with classroom modifications, and work closely with classroom teachers to ensure that students receive the necessary accommodations and support. Resource Teachers focus on helping students access the curriculum and succeed academically.

Educational Diagnostician: Educational Diagnosticians assess students to identify learning disabilities and special needs. They conduct evaluations, administer tests, and analyze results to determine the appropriate educational interventions and supports required. Educational Diagnosticians work closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop effective educational plans.

Behavioral Therapist: Behavioral Therapists use evidence-based techniques to support individuals with behavioral and developmental challenges. They develop and implement behavior modification programs, work with students to improve social skills and emotional regulation, and collaborate with families and educators to create supportive environments. Behavioral Therapists often work in schools, clinics, or private practice settings.

Early Intervention Specialist: Early Intervention Specialists work with young children who have developmental delays or disabilities, providing support and services to enhance their development. They work with families to address early learning needs, develop individualized plans, and connect families with community resources. Early Intervention Specialists typically work in early childhood education centers or home-based programs.

School Counselor: School Counselors support students' academic, social, and emotional development. They provide counseling services, develop intervention strategies, and work with students, parents, and teachers to address various issues affecting students' well-being and academic success. School Counselors play a crucial role in creating a positive and inclusive school environment.

Transition Specialist: Transition Specialists assist students with disabilities in making the transition from school to post-school life, including higher education, vocational training, and employment. They help students set goals, develop transition plans, and access resources and support services. Transition Specialists work with students, families, and community organizations to facilitate successful transitions.

Inclusive Education Coordinator: Inclusive Education Coordinators work to promote inclusive practices within educational settings. They develop and implement programs that support the integration of students with disabilities into general education classrooms, provide training for educators, and ensure that inclusive practices are effectively implemented. This role involves collaboration with educators, administrators, and parents.

Assistive Technology Specialist: Assistive Technology Specialists focus on the use of technology to support individuals with disabilities. They assess and recommend assistive devices and software, provide training for students and educators on using technology, and work to integrate assistive technology into educational settings to enhance learning and accessibility.

Consultant in Special Education: Consultants in Special Education provide expert advice and support to schools, organizations, and families on special education matters. They offer guidance on best practices, program development, and compliance with special education regulations. Consultants may work independently or as part of consulting firms that specialize in educational services.

Advocate for Disability Rights: Advocates for Disability Rights work to promote and protect the rights of individuals with disabilities. They work with advocacy organizations, government agencies, and community groups to address issues related to accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunities. This role involves raising awareness, lobbying for policy changes, and supporting individuals in navigating systems and services.
