Program Overview

The M.A. in Education - Research and Evaluation at CSULA is designed to prepare graduates with advanced knowledge and skills in educational research, assessment, and program evaluation. The program equips students with the tools and methodologies to critically analyze and evaluate educational programs, policies, and practices.  These courses equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to design research studies, collect and analyze data, conduct program evaluations, and effectively communicate research findings.

Curriculum:

  1. Research Methodology: The program provides a strong foundation in research methods and quantitative and qualitative data analysis. Students learn how to design research studies, collect and analyze data, and interpret findings. They gain proficiency in using statistical software and research methodologies applicable to educational contexts.

  2. Evaluation and Assessment: The program focuses on program evaluation and assessment in educational settings. Students learn how to design and implement evaluation plans, assess the effectiveness of educational interventions, and make data-informed decisions to improve educational practices.

  3. Data Analysis and Interpretation: Students develop expertise in analyzing and interpreting educational data to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement. They learn how to use data to inform decision-making and policy development in educational settings.

  4. Research Ethics and Leadership: The program emphasizes ethical considerations in educational research and evaluation. Students learn about ethical guidelines, privacy, and confidentiality issues when conducting research with human subjects. They also develop leadership skills to effectively communicate research findings and advocate for evidence-based practices in education.

Postgraduate Admissions:

  • A minimum undergraduate degree with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 60% or higher.
     
  • English Language Proficiency: International students must demonstrate English language proficiency by achieving satisfactory scores in one of the following standardized tests:
    • IELTS: Minimum score of 6.5 overall.
    • TOEFL: Minimum score of 80 on the internet-based test (iBT).
    • PTE: Minimum score of 55.
    • DET (Duolingo English Test): Minimum score of 105.
       
  • WES Evaluation Required.
