Undergraduate Entry Requirements

Academic Qualifications: Applicants for undergraduate programs typically require a minimum academic achievement of 65% or above in their previous academic qualifications.

English Language Proficiency:

• IELTS: Overall band score of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component.
• TOEFL: Overall score of 79 or higher.
• DET (Duolingo English Test): Overall score of 110.

Global Excellence Scholarship: The Global Excellence Scholarship is awarded to international students who have demonstrated academic excellence and have a strong commitment to contributing positively to the UMass Lowell community. This scholarship recognizes students who embody the values of global citizenship and leadership.

UMass Lowell Merit Scholarships: Apart from specific scholarships for international students, UMass Lowell also offers a range of merit scholarships that international students may be eligible for. These scholarships are awarded based on academic achievements, extracurricular involvement, and other criteria.

Donor-Funded Scholarships: UMass Lowell has various donor-funded scholarships that provide financial assistance to international students from specific countries or regions. These scholarships may be awarded based on the country of origin, academic achievements, or other specific criteria defined by the donors.

Professional Artist: Many graduates pursue careers as professional artists, creating and selling their own artwork. This can include working as a painter, sculptor, printmaker, or digital artist. Artists may exhibit their work in galleries, museums, and art fairs, and may also sell their pieces through online platforms or through direct commissions.

Art Educator: Graduates can become art teachers or educators, teaching art in primary and secondary schools, community centers, or art institutions. With additional certification, they can work in public or private schools, inspiring and instructing the next generation of artists.

Art Director: An art director oversees the visual aspects of creative projects, such as advertising campaigns, publications, or film and television productions. They work with design teams to ensure that the visual elements align with the project's goals and messaging.

Graphic Designer: Graphic designers create visual content for print and digital media, including logos, brochures, websites, and social media graphics. They use their artistic skills to convey messages effectively and attractively in various media formats.

Illustrator: Illustrators produce images for books, magazines, advertisements, and other media. They work in various styles and techniques to bring stories, concepts, and ideas to life visually, often collaborating with authors, publishers, and clients.

Museum or Gallery Curator: Graduates may work as curators, managing collections and exhibitions in museums or galleries. They are responsible for selecting and organizing artworks, researching artists and collections, and engaging with the public through educational programs and events.

Art Conservator/Restorer: Art conservators and restorers work to preserve and repair artworks. They analyze and treat artworks to prevent deterioration and restore them to their original condition. This career requires specialized knowledge in art materials and techniques.

Art Therapist: Art therapists use creative processes to help individuals express emotions, overcome challenges, and improve mental health. They work in various settings, including hospitals, schools, and counseling centers, combining their artistic skills with therapeutic techniques.

Art Consultant: Art consultants assist individuals, businesses, and organizations in acquiring and managing art collections. They offer advice on purchasing art, curating collections, and integrating art into spaces, often working with collectors, interior designers, and corporate clients.

Animator: Animators create moving images for films, video games, television, and digital media. They use various techniques, including 2D and 3D animation, to bring characters and stories to life. This role often involves working with animation studios or production companies.

Set Designer: Set designers design and create sets for theatrical productions, films, and television shows. They work with directors and production teams to create visually compelling environments that enhance storytelling and contribute to the overall aesthetic of the production.

Freelance Art Professional: Many B.F.A. graduates choose to work as freelancers, offering their services on a project-by-project basis. Freelance opportunities can include a range of roles such as commissioned artwork, design work, and consulting, providing flexibility and the chance to work on diverse projects.

Creative Director: Creative directors lead creative teams and oversee the development of visual concepts for advertising, branding, and media projects. They ensure that the creative vision is executed effectively and aligns with the project's objectives.

Art Appraiser: Art appraisers evaluate the value of artworks for insurance, sale, or auction purposes. They use their expertise to assess the condition, provenance, and market value of art pieces, providing detailed reports and advice to clients.

Community Arts Organizer: Community arts organizers work to promote and facilitate art programs and events within local communities. They may manage public art projects, organize exhibitions, and collaborate with artists and community members to enhance cultural engagement.
