Undergraduate Entry Requirements

Academic Qualifications: Applicants for undergraduate programs typically require a minimum academic achievement of 65% or above in their previous academic qualifications.

English Language Proficiency:

• IELTS: Overall band score of 6.0 or 6.5 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component.
• TOEFL: Overall score of 79 with a minimum of 21 in each section.
• PTE (Pearson Test of English): Overall score of 58 with a minimum of 50 in each section.

Students must provide:

• academic marksheets & transcripts
• letters of recommendation
• a personal statement - SOP
• passport
• other supporting documents as required by the university.

Graduates from QUT’s Bachelor of Fine Arts (Technical Production) program possess specialized skills and knowledge in technical aspects of live performance, events, and entertainment production. 

Technical Director: Many graduates pursue careers as technical directors, overseeing the technical planning, execution, and management of productions in theater, live events, television, film, and other entertainment sectors. They coordinate lighting, sound, rigging, set design, and multimedia elements to ensure seamless and high-quality productions.

Lighting Designer: Graduates can work as lighting designers, creating and implementing lighting schemes that enhance the mood, atmosphere, and visual impact of live performances, concerts, events, and theatrical productions. They collaborate with directors, set designers, and technical teams to achieve artistic and technical excellence.

Sound Engineer/Audio Technician: Some graduates specialize as sound engineers or audio technicians, responsible for designing, operating, and maintaining sound systems for live events, concerts, theaters, broadcasts, and recording studios. They ensure clear audio quality and optimal sound reinforcement for performers and audiences.

Stage Manager: Graduates may pursue careers as stage managers, overseeing the logistical and technical aspects of rehearsals and performances. They coordinate schedules, cues, props, and backstage operations to ensure smooth and efficient production execution.

Set Designer/Constructor: Graduates with skills in set design and construction can work as set designers or constructors, creating and building sets for theater, television, film, exhibitions, and events. They interpret artistic concepts, design blueprints, and collaborate with production teams to bring scenic designs to life.

Production Manager: Graduates can become production managers, responsible for overseeing the overall production process, budgets, timelines, and logistics for theater companies, event agencies, film productions, and entertainment venues. They coordinate resources, personnel, and technical requirements to deliver successful productions.

Technical Consultant/Advisor: Some graduates work as technical consultants or advisors, providing expertise on technical production solutions, equipment specifications, safety standards, and regulatory compliance for entertainment projects, venues, and production companies.

Event Coordinator/Producer: Graduates with a background in technical production may pursue careers as event coordinators or producers, organizing and managing corporate events, concerts, festivals, and special events. They oversee technical requirements, logistics, and production elements to create memorable and successful events.

Freelance Technician/Operator: Many technical production graduates work as freelance technicians or operators, providing services such as lighting operation, sound mixing, rigging, set construction, multimedia support, and technical assistance for various productions, events, and projects.
