Undergraduate Entry Requirements

Application Fee: AUD $100

Academic Qualifications: Applicants for undergraduate programs typically require a minimum academic achievement of 70% or above in their previous academic qualifications.

English Language Proficiency:

• IELTS: Overall band score of 6.0 or 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in each component.
• TOEFL: Overall score of 80 with a minimum of 19 in each section.
• PTE (Pearson Test of English): Overall score of 58 with a minimum of 50 in each section.

Students must provide:

• academic marksheets & transcripts
• letters of recommendation
• a personal statement - SOP
• passport
• other supporting documents as required by the university.

Monash Equity Scholarship: This scholarship is offered to students who have experienced financial hardship or other forms of disadvantage that have impacted their ability to succeed academically. The scholarship provides up to $6,000 per annum to assist with living expenses and other costs.

Monash Indigenous Scholarship: This scholarship is available to Indigenous students who are undertaking undergraduate or postgraduate study at Monash University. The scholarship provides a range of benefits, including financial assistance, mentoring, and academic support.

Professional Musician: Professional musicians perform live music as solo artists or as part of bands, orchestras, and ensembles. They may specialize in various genres such as classical, jazz, contemporary, or world music, performing in concerts, festivals, and events.

Composer/Songwriter: Composers and songwriters create original music for various purposes, including film scores, television shows, video games, theater productions, and commercial jingles. They work independently or collaborate with other artists and media producers.

Music Producer: Music producers oversee the recording and production of music tracks. They work with artists, sound engineers, and studio technicians to shape the sound and style of recordings, ensuring high-quality production and creative expression.

Sound Engineer: Sound engineers manage the technical aspects of recording, mixing, and mastering music tracks. They operate audio equipment, edit recordings, and ensure optimal sound quality for live performances, studio recordings, and broadcasts.

Music Teacher/Educator: Music teachers and educators work in schools, colleges, universities, and private institutions, teaching students various aspects of music performance, theory, history, and technology. They may also offer private lessons and workshops.

Music Therapist: Music therapists use music as a therapeutic tool to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals. They work in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, schools, and private practices, helping clients improve their health and well-being through music.

Conductor: Conductors lead orchestras, choirs, and other musical ensembles, guiding musicians through rehearsals and performances. They interpret musical scores, shape the overall sound, and ensure cohesive and expressive performances.

Music Director: Music directors oversee the musical aspects of productions in theaters, churches, and other organizations. They select and arrange music, conduct rehearsals, and collaborate with directors and performers to achieve the desired artistic vision.

Music Journalist/Critic: Music journalists and critics write reviews, articles, and interviews about music, artists, and industry trends. They work for newspapers, magazines, websites, and broadcast media, providing insights and commentary on the music scene.

Arts Administrator: Arts administrators manage operations and programs for arts organizations, such as orchestras, opera companies, music festivals, and cultural institutions. They handle marketing, fundraising, event planning, and community outreach.

Music Librarian: Music librarians manage collections of music scores, recordings, and literature in libraries, archives, and educational institutions. They assist researchers, students, and musicians in accessing and using music resources.

Event Coordinator/Manager: Event coordinators and managers plan and organize music events, such as concerts, festivals, and tours. They handle logistics, coordinate with artists and vendors, and ensure the successful execution of events.
