Program Overview

The BSc in Economics and Management is a popular undergraduate degree programme offered by the University of Bristol. The course is designed to equip students with a strong foundation in economics, management and business skills, as well as critical thinking and analytical skills to prepare them for a wide range of careers in the public and private sectors.

The programme is structured to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the inter-relationship between economics and management, with a focus on the application of economic principles to the analysis of business decision-making. 

First year of study, students will be introduced to fundamental concepts in economics, including microeconomics, macroeconomics, and quantitative methods. They will also take modules in management and accounting, providing them with a strong grounding in business principles.

Second and third years of study, students will delve deeper into the core areas of economics and management, taking modules such as econometrics, industrial organization, corporate finance, strategic management and international business. These modules aim to give students a deeper understanding of economic theory and its applications in business and management.

As part of the course, students also have the opportunity to undertake a research project in their final year. This allows students to develop their research skills and apply them to real-world business problems. Students may also choose to specialize in a particular area of economics or management through their choice of optional modules.

  • Applicants should have successfully completed their secondary education with a minimum overall score of 85% or equivalent in their respective country's grading system.
  • English language proficiency is essential, and students are required to provide evidence of their English language skills through an approved language test.
    • IELTS: A minimum overall score of 6.5 with no individual component below 6.
    • TOEFL: A minimum overall score of 88, with at least 22 in Listening, 24 in Reading, 21 in Speaking, and 20 in Writing.
    • PTE Academic: A minimum overall score of 66 with no individual score below 60.
  • Some programs may have specific subject prerequisites or additional requirements.
