Curriculum:

The curriculum of the program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of occupational health, safety, and wellness practices. 

  1. Occupational Health and Safety Legislation: This course provides an overview of occupational health and safety laws and regulations in Canada. Students learn about their rights and responsibilities as occupational health and safety professionals and gain an understanding of the legal frameworks that govern workplace safety.

  2. Risk Assessment and Hazard Control: Students learn how to identify workplace hazards, assess risks, and develop strategies to control and mitigate them. They learn about various hazard control methods, such as engineering controls, administrative controls, and personal protective equipment.

  3. Occupational Hygiene: This course focuses on identifying and managing occupational hazards related to chemical, biological, and physical agents in the workplace. Students learn about air quality monitoring, noise control, ventilation systems, and occupational exposure limits.

  4. Workplace Wellness and Mental Health: Students explore strategies for promoting employee well-being and creating a healthy work environment. They learn about workplace wellness programs, mental health awareness, stress management techniques, and the role of ergonomics in preventing workplace injuries.

  5. Emergency Preparedness and Response: This course covers emergency planning, response, and recovery in the workplace. Students learn how to develop emergency response plans, conduct drills, and coordinate emergency response efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of employees.

  6. Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems: Students learn about the principles and implementation of occupational health and safety management systems, such as ISO 45001. They gain knowledge in developing policies, procedures, and processes to promote continuous improvement in occupational health and safety performance.

  1. Postgraduate Diploma Programs:

    • Academic Requirement: Applicants must have completed a bachelor's degree or its equivalent from a recognized institution with a minimum of 55% overall average.
    • English Language Proficiency: International students must demonstrate proficiency in English by meeting the minimum requirements in one of the following tests:
      • IELTS: A minimum overall band score of 6.5, with no individual band score below 6.0.
      • TOEFL: A minimum overall score of 88 on the Internet-based test (iBT), with a minimum score of 21 in each section.
      • PTE: A minimum overall score of 58, with no communicative skills score below 50.

It's important to note that meeting the minimum entry requirements does not guarantee admission to Conestoga College, as program-specific requirements and competitive selection processes may apply.
