Graduate Certificate in Predictive Analytics

Guelph Campus, Ontario

INTAKE: Jan, May & Sept

Program Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Predictive Analytics at Conestoga College focuses on teaching students how to analyze large sets of data, identify patterns, and make accurate predictions. The program combines theory and hands-on practical training to enable students to apply advanced analytics techniques to real-world scenarios. Students learn how to use statistical modeling, data mining, and machine learning algorithms to uncover insights and drive data-driven decision-making.

Curriculum:

The curriculum of the Graduate Certificate in Predictive Analytics program covers a wide range of subjects related to data analysis and predictive modeling.

  1. Introduction to Predictive Analytics: Students gain a fundamental understanding of predictive analytics, its applications, and the various techniques used in the field. They learn about data preprocessing, feature selection, and model evaluation.

  2. Statistical Analysis and Modeling: This course focuses on statistical methods used in predictive analytics, including regression analysis, time series analysis, and hypothesis testing. Students learn how to apply statistical techniques to analyze data and make predictions.

  3. Data Mining and Machine Learning: Students explore data mining techniques and machine learning algorithms used in predictive analytics. They learn how to build predictive models using techniques such as decision trees, random forests, and support vector machines.

  4. Big Data Analytics: This course covers the analysis of large and complex datasets using big data technologies. Students learn how to handle big data challenges, apply distributed computing frameworks, and extract insights from massive datasets.

  5. Data Visualization and Communication: Students learn how to effectively visualize and communicate data insights. They explore data visualization tools and techniques to present complex analysis results in a clear and meaningful way.

  6. Applied Predictive Analytics Project: This capstone project allows students to apply their knowledge and skills to solve a real-world predictive analytics problem. They work in teams to design and implement predictive models, analyze data, and present their findings.
